Opal Mag returns with the ethereal 'Kitchen Song'

Back in February, Opal’s single ‘Love to See You Shine‘ landed, with gritty alt-rock accents embezzled across trademark soft vocalisations and toe-tapping melodies to craft a bespoke soundscape that is distinctly hers. Released earlier this month, her follow-up ‘Kitchen Song’ is a complimentary addition to an ever-expanding discography, honing-in on on those softer elements to Opal Mag’s sound and incorporating a playful storytelling approach to the lyricism – layered to create a thick dreamy texture of dynamic richness.

With sweeping western-style slides dancing below the hook ‘I love the sound’, Opal is exploring a delicate sonic terrain, infused with feelings of comfort, nostalgia and peace. Opal channels a feeling of acceptance in sonder, finding relaxation in the simple things while the world whirls on by with it’s chaotic and sleepless noise – passively buzzing in the background while binge-watching nostalgic TV shows or listening to the radio in your own company.

‘Kitchen Song’ is an open-door, ushering the listener to join Opal Mag for an evening of tender melodies – a slow dream state filled with nothing but you, and the discovery of your own joy:

"Kitchen Song' is a love letter to quiet, solitary nights spent in the sanctuary of my bedroom. While the world celebrates outside - voices lifted in karaoke, lights flashing through windows - I find a quieter kind of joy'

With recent airplay on Radio x and BBC Introducing, combined with an upcoming headline at the low-lit Alphabet on November 27th courtesy of JOY. (tickets on sale from 24/7), Opal Mag continues to stir the waves of Brighton’s musical landscape, challenging convention and bringing a refreshing simplicity to a town known for it’s chaotic temperament.
