Novo Speed x Rankd

Meet Novo Speed - the label pushing a resurgence of 90s House, Acid and Techno
Brighton may now often be celebrated for its DIY indie and alternative scenes, with independent venues, art collectives, and self-produced bands shaping much of its creative identity – but the city’s underground electronic culture is very much alive and evolving. At the heart of this resurgence is Novo Speed, a Brighton-based label and events platform injecting the raw energy of 90s techno, trance and acid into the subcultural scene.
Led by DJ and organiser Yesh (aka Florence), Novo Speed represent a new wave of grassroots promoters shaping Brighton’s growing techno ecosystem. Their events – intimate, inclusive and adamantly music-first, offer dancers a space removed from the commercial mainstream and rooted in the city’s progressive values: safer spaces, accessibility, and a focus on memorable experiences crafted for likeminded individuals.
Originally starting his events journey during his university years in Manchester, Yesh later relocated to Brighton, carrying his expertise with him.
Their first event post-lockdown at Volks solidified their reputation for hypnotic high-energy nights driven by a genuine love for the culture. With 12 events under Novo Speed and over 40 as a promoter under his belt, Yesh is no stranger to throwing a good party.
As the brand continues to evolve, Novo Speed remains committed to showcasing emerging talent and celebrating local artists. Their carefully curated lineups are heavily inspired by the overlapping genres of the 90s and largely an extension of Yesh’s eclectic personal taste – a blend of rave classics with the obscure and underrated.
“My centre ground is techno, but I move through so many subgenres in a set. That’s what made that era so special - everything overlapped.”
“There’s no compromise at our events. If the music isn’t up to scratch, I’ll say so,” Yesh explains. With meticulously selected lineups and a commitment to authenticity and inclusivity, Novo
Speed’s events bridge the gap between nostalgia and modernity. Through blending the energy of the 90s with modern innovations, fresh talent and new music, they’re helping to shape the next chapter of Brighton’s underground electronic music landscape.
Catch their next event at Volks on Friday, 16 January, tickets available from £4.50 here.
