Homegrown x Rankd

The music scene comes home for one night only
After a sold-out debut in 2024, Homegrown Festival is back on Saturday the 12th of April and it’s already shaping up to be a major date in Brighton’s live music calendar. What began as a grassroots celebration of the city’s vibrant music scene has quickly grown into one of the most exciting one-day festivals around, with this year’s edition featuring over 60 local artists across eight independent venues – The Hope & Ruin, Rossi Bar, The Pipeline, Green Door Store, The Folklore Rooms, The Prince Albert, Revenge and Daltons.
Homegrown is the work of MVAB (Music Venues Alliance Brighton), a collective of grassroots venues collaborating to spotlight the spaces and artists that give Brighton its musical identity. These venues have long been the launchpads for local talent, supporting artists at the earliest stages of their careers and providing platforms for creative expression, and with added support from Arts Council England, Homegrown will be infiltrating these spaces for one day of non-stop music.
With the slow wave-by-wave reveal of their line-up in recent weeks, local music fanatics have eagerly awaited the full roster of artists ready to take the stage on Saturday, and they certainly haven’t been left disappointed.
One of the festival’s biggest strengths is its diversity. The line-up moves across genres, scenes and styles. You’ll find the sonically bold sounds of PROJECTOR, the genre-hopping live energy of Congratulations, and the mesmerising, soul-infused song writing of Steven Bamidele. Acts like PUSSYLIQUOR bring punk, while artists like Luo and Nina Kohout carve out more experimental territory. Whether you’re after psych, punk, R&B, garage rock, folk or something in between, Homegrown has it.
Each venue brings its own vibe too. The Folklore Rooms offers an intimate setting for stripped
back performances for the likes of Goodbye and Glasshouse Red Spider Mite, while Green Door Store and Prince Albert will host louder, heavier sets courtesy of HotWax, Plastics and many more. The Hope and Ruin and Rossi Bar will be running later sets for anyone looking to catch a few more acts before the night draws to a close.
'Fans are at the root of these spaces, purchasing tickets to support their favourite artists in venues where relationships are seeded, community is grown, and raw talent blooms.'

2025
Homegrown encourages audiences to explore. With first-come, first-served access at each venue, festival-goers are invited to wander between spaces, discover new artists and be open to the unexpected. Can’t get into a set? Head somewhere else and you might find your new favourite band.
More than just a music event, Homegrown is built on values of community, inclusivity and mutual support. The team’s hard work in pulling the event together is a testament to just that. Small acts like buying merch and and supporting LOCAL can go a long way in keeping the scene alive, and ensuring events like this can secure longevity.
Brighton’s music scene is always shifting, growing and surprising. Homegrown Festival is a snapshot of that energy in real time, celebrating the artists and spaces that make it all possible. With its second edition, the festival proves that local doesn’t mean small, it means rooted, real and full of potential.
Homegrown is SOLD OUT, and kicks off on Saturday 12th April
