A night of funk-psych fusion - curated by GOAT Promotions
On April 8th, GOAT Promotions returns with their next unmissable line-up of grooves, funk and psychedelia to mark the Brighton stop of Flat Moon’s debut album release tour for ‘Cookin’ Up A Groove’, their long-anticipated debut album. The six-piece band bring a dense mix of funk, punk, afrobeat, jazz and disco, delivered through a lineup built around guitar, saxophone and a tight rhythm section.
GOAT Promotions are inviting the touring 6-piece from Leeds into the comforting arms of The Green Door Store, connecting them to Brighton on a 19-day string of shows from Edinburgh to Norwich (with more yet to be announced). Opening up their debut LP with a high-octane intro built on the foundations of toe-tapping bass runs and percussive eccentricity, Flat Moon invite listeners to explore genre non-conformity in a playful 47 minute package – from the other-worldly guitar melodies of ‘A Moon’s Bouche’, to the stripped sensuality of ‘Dizzy’.
Released independently through London’s Monomyth Records, the band are carving out the dancefloor with themes of escapism and release, accompanied by the jazz fusion, hip-hop, funk and alt-rock goodness of Brighton-born Goatia.
Moving between tightly arranged sections and more open instrumental passages, the collective have recently delved into the busking world, re-emerging with their latest release ‘Not Like Me‘, featuring Billy’s captivating Rap vocal intertwining with shifting rhythms, layered instrumentation and the delicate vocal textures of Amy Palmer and Max Adriaan. The track marks the final single before the release of their debut album later this year.
Early bird tickets have already sold out, with general admission currently £8 via Fatsoma. Expect an evening of grooves and vibes, accompanied with more acts yet to be announced, and a DIY artist stall section in the venue courtyard featuring local art and clothing.
See you there!
