Gnarwal Fest x Rankd

Gnarly Marmalade and WhattaWally Promotions join forces for 'Gnarwal Fest' on Oct 11 + 12... What should you expect?
With day festivals taking over the live music calendar in recent months with 234 Fest, SideQuest Fest and the upcoming Mutations Festival (November 7+8) – the latest addition joins the forces of two promotors who have been making strong waves in the events world, boasting an equally loaded line-up to go with it. This is GNARWAL FESTIVAL.
On one side of the coin, Luke Miller’s is behind the strikingly named ‘Gnarly Marmalade’ – a familiar face from math/noise getup ‘nel blu‘. His ethics-first approach has merged genres from jazz to hardcore, and has provided an open platform for artists to showcase their work without the restraints of style, size or ‘saleability’. His shows are proudly not-for-profit, and he spoke to Reprezent Radio back in January about his artist-first approach and burning passion for unrestricted access to live music, which is also why ‘Gnarwal’ fest is NOTAFLOF (tune in from 35 minutes).
'Gnarly Marmalade is not for profit and I intend to keep ticket prices as low as possible while still paying artists their fair share. Through this vehicle there will also be charity and fundraising events.'
WhattaWally, the powerhouse behind the Alt-alt Escape offering from Brighton’s beloved Presuming Ed’s ‘The Greatest Cape’, is ran by Angel Harrington, who you’ll see belting jaw-dropping vocals across town in ‘Mirepoix‘ and curating line-ups at the venue of choice for ‘Gnarwal Fest’ – Green Door Store.
Angel and Luke’s shared love of DIY culture, and wall-breaking opportunity-making for new artists, and something to admire, and ‘Gnarwal Fest’ plays homage to just that. With the experimental ambience of ‘ragdoll’ on Saturday and the soulful hair-raising richness of Amber Burgoyne on Sunday, the two-day extravaganza pulls artists from their favourite line-ups to date, introducing new names to solidify the festival as a space for discovery and dancing. Want to hear more about the line-up? You’ll have to secure a ticket and experience it for yourself…
