could be ghosts x Rankd – ‘Cold’

could be ghosts return with unmatched urgency with their new single ‘cold’
Keeping to their faithfully executed post hardcore style, the five piece are back in our ears, this time with an anthemic, fast paced, guttural fusion of genres in their single ‘Cold’.
The single follows the release of their self produced EP late last year ‘You Still Speak In Your Sleep’; a tough act to follow as the EP displayed the band’s range of impressive technical ability and pure heart (You can read more on the EP here). However, with ‘Cold’, it’s clear the band are moving forward and evolving, seeing glimmers of heavier elements, echoing modern post hardcore bands such as Loathe and Hail The Sun. Vocalist Florence displays an array of screaming styles that span genres, even throwing in the signature metalcore ‘blegh’.
Much of their original emo charm remains however, with melodic fast paced guitars and earnest lyricism, a staple to the band’s style. ‘Cold’ tells us that while it’s clear that the band have found their signature sound, they’re not afraid to enter into other territories, furthering their meld of classic emo and more modern metalcore stylings. Whatever the outcome may be, I’m excited to see what could be ghosts will do with these newfound elements!
Following their headline performances at Face Down Colchester and Green Door Store, Brighton, ‘cold’ released on June 17th 2026, ahead of their performance at Black Cat Festival in Brighton alongside princess xixi, Reptile B, Leibniz, Misgendered and more.
