The ethereal dreamscape of Collect Call

We’re reflecting back to September 2025 – a mere memory for many, but permenantly etched as a milestone for Brighton’s Joseph Thorpe, more formally known in the musical realm as ‘Collect Call’. As a pioneer of dreamy chorus-filled ballads that God is in the TV define as ‘sweet, thoughtful and quirky’, the debut EP ‘Forever Reality’ ties together five tracks into a retrospective, graceful and delicately executed journey that serves as a remedy for the busy-minded.

Opening with ‘The Door’, the EP takes no time breaking the ice for newer listeners, fusing intricate stroytelling with thumping synth foundations that playfully fuse electronic, pop and indie elements into a tightly-bound package.  Nodding to the iconic synth-led simplicity of LCD Soundsystem’s ‘oh baby’, Joseph showcases a soft, melodic and effects-driven vocal delivery that lovingly twists across an instrumentation that incorporates drums, acoustic guitar, clarinet, bass and synths – a breathtaking production that sets the tone for the EP with undeniable character.

The deeply textured and samba-esque ‘OMIGATIK’ features the flavourful acoustic charm that is reminicent of SZA’s ‘Good Days’, while maintaining that definitive songwriting expertise that keeps vocals at the core of Collect Call’s production.

Collect Call has several upcoming shows in Brighton (more information can be found here), and recently released live sessions from the Woodroom, which can be viewed here.
