Fresh-faced alt-rock from COALFACE

The most rewarding part of operating in the grassroots ecosystem is the expansive pool of undiscovered talent that sits at our doorstep, and we’re lucky enough to have catchy ballads and headbanging anthems beamed straight into our inbox. This week, we discovered the debut single from local singer/songwriter ‘COALFACE’, and his fresh-off-the-press debut single ‘At the Coalface (Once Again)’ – independently released back on June 11th.

‘COALFACE’, the musical project of Zac Robson, has seen shows spanning independent venues across Brighton’s iconic Folklore Rooms, Pipeline, Prince Albert and The Brunswick – showcasing a high-energy vocal power that has been captured effortlessly in the recorded single.

Reminiscent of Sam Fender and Jake Bugg, Zac has crafted a DIY project that requires two simple ingredients – an acoustic guitar and his effortlessly projected vocals. However, with the versatility of Zac’s sound, he is also seen joining forces with a full-band to further enrich his sound with a grittier edge branching into the earlier alt-rock soundscapes of the early/mid 2000’s.

Hard hitting guitar solos and catchy lyricism mingle on a bed of punchy drumbeats to deliver a striking debut single – a promising introduction to Zac’s foundations as an emerging Brighton song writer. We’re excited to see what follows!
