Chub x Rankd

The quick-witted yet boldly delivered sounds of 'Chub'
Upon first glance, Chub can be mistakenly defined by the humorous nature of their craft, sprinkling lyrical themes of UK pub & drinking culture (‘Microwave Dave’ and ‘Beer Bong Song’), and a playfully delivered homage to the ‘Carolina Reaper’, which has jumpstarted their own trademarked series ‘Chili Billies‘ which sees local artists under the wrath of the world’s hottest chilli’s. However, digging deeper into their discography reveals an invigorating political discourse, pointing fingers at capitalism in ‘QUIT’ and facilitating a safe and and open-armed approach to their growing audience of punk-loving activists – ‘CHUBlies’. This fusion of seriousness and merrymaking has solidified Chub in a realm of their own, and they’re pummelling down a road of success and recognition in 2025.
Fresh of the back of their ‘North to South‘ tour, the quartet have explored new territories from Edinburgh to Leeds, recruiting flocks of new fans as they smear their gritty power-chord led soundscapes across the sticky-floored grassroots community. Itching for more, Ben, Kyle, Greg and Zakk have shared an exclusive BTS listen to their next single ‘Chub’, their most fiery offering yet and a welcoming introduction to their next era on the UK circuit.
‘Chub is here to f*ck you up‘
…and we’re here for it!
With Greg’s frantic guitar work following the melodies of Ben’s growling vocal, ‘Chub’ follows multiple peaks and troughs, building up to a energetic ending of fully-fledged chaos.
“A relentless onslaught that makes me want to down a beer and get stuck in with some gang-vocals!” - Alex Baker, Kerrang!
After claiming the crown at 2024’s ‘Metal 2 the Masses‘, the four-piece have graced the stage before crowds of inflatable dinosaurs, while securing spots on the radar of Kerrang! Radio – remaining rooted in a DIY ethos pioneered by local stage-sharers ‘Pussy Liquor‘, ‘Leibniz‘ and many more!
With bassist Zakk documenting the happenings of ‘Chub’ over on his aptly named YouTube channel ‘Mead and Metal‘, the Brighton & Eastbourne advocates leave no stone unturned, and have kept their journey from day one to ’25 transparent, raw and inspirational. Chub is the outcome of four long-time friends channelling their infectious energy into music, rumbling the walls of basement venues and emerging victorious on the stages of major festivals and showing no signs of slowing the pace down!
