Packing the definitive lo-fi warmth that has come to define Ben Williams’ home-curated project ‘Rainy Day Café’, his latest release ‘I’m Lost In This World’ punches in at just under 2-minues yet showcases a passion for production that steers away from the digital, and settles for something much more retro.

Recorded back in 2025 on a trusty old four track – Ben is no stranger to analogue recording techniques, populating his home studio with a Tascam and Fostex gear that adds a unique sense of nostalgia to his recorded works. With tape-recorded soundscapes reminiscent of Mild High Club, ‘I’m Lost In This World’ features lyrical simplicity with an effective sing-along message:

‘What’s my life gonna be, I don’t know let’s see…’

Depicting the thoughts of someone lost and misguided, the track draws on themes of hopelessness, confusion and spontaneity – the all too familiar feelings of someone navigating their 20’s.

Despite the feeling of losing track, we can confide in our friends and family to keep us together.

Polished off with an extravagant bassline courtesy of PROM‘s Jack Smith, Ben Williams latest addition to the Rainy Day Café discography has already garnered the attention of BBC Introducing. With his ongoing live sound work with the likes of Westside Cowboy and additional projects such as lofi surf-punk trio KATZ – Ben’s been keeping busy. Despite the chaos, Rainy Day Café is emerging with new material to combat the January blues.
